Cotton, which makes up our internal cushions and external covers (except Minky), is a natural fabric without synthetic fibers. It is easy to wash, hypoallergenic, and recommended for sensitive skin and baby skin. Cotton is absorbent and breathable, inhibiting the spread of bacteria, and does not require any special recommendations.
However, despite these advantages, cotton can have some disadvantages: colors may bleed, fibers may shrink slightly, and the fabric may pill. Follow the instructions below to avoid or minimize these issues:
Cover, Giant Swaddle, Ribbons to Ties, Bag, Gift Bag
- Wash between 30°C and 60°C and dry on a line depending on the material. Cotton can withstand up to 60°C, for other fibers 30-40°C is recommended.
- Avoid tumble drying to preserve the cotton fiber.
- If you only wash the cover, to preserve colors and prevent fiber breakage that causes pilling, it is best to turn it inside out before washing and especially to use a gentle spin.
- Add white vinegar or an anti-fading wipe to the machine to prevent cotton from bleeding and to fix the colors.
- If you use a lot of detergent or washing powder, and depending on the hardness of your water, this can leave white marks on dark colors.
- Never wash the cover alone in the machine with the zip open: the force of the spin can cause tears at the zip ends. This type of tear is not covered by the warranty, but we will gladly repair it if you send it to us. In fact, we repair your cushions and covers for life, contact us for the terms.
- Never completely close the cover zip on the reverse side: the slider is self-locking and becomes harder to open in this case.
- If you wash your cover by hand, remember to add white vinegar to the water; otherwise, the colors of the cotton may bleed and fade.
- If pilling appears on the cover, remove it with tape or a special adhesive roller designed for fabric and clothing.
The Cushion and its Cover
- Wash between 30°C and 60°C and dry on a line depending on the material. Cotton can withstand up to 60°C, for other fibers 30-40°C is recommended.
- Add white vinegar or an anti-fading wipe to the machine to prevent cotton bleeding and to fix the colors.
- If you use a lot of detergent or washing powder, and depending on the hardness of your water, this can leave white marks on dark colors.
- To wash the cushion completely, carefully check before washing that the internal slider is positioned fully UNDER the fabric, AGAINST the stop seam (see this video tutorial in French, particularly at 3:15 min).
- Check the internal seams and do not wash it if you notice a loose seam.
- Leave the external cover ON the cushion to wash it safely in the machine.
- Check before closing, and then during washing, that the cushion is not stuck between the drum and the door. There is a risk of burning the fabrics and agglomeration of the pearls, as well as leakage.
- If the cushion is firm or new, you may have difficulty putting it in the machine. You will need to remove a few pearls first (see our video tutorial in French zip in the center, or zip at the end of the cushion then refill a cushion). You can keep them in a container or put them to wash in a well-closed pillowcase or a bag.
- Use a gentle spin, around 1000 rpm, for safety.
- Tumble drying is prohibited for the cushion. Do not place it on or near a heat source.
- When drying, separate the external cover from the cushion and dry it on a line or on a clothes horse, ideally in the sun or on a low-humidity day.
- Shake the pearls regularly to help the humidity escape.
- If pilling appears on the cover, you can remove it with tape or a special adhesive roller for fabric and clothing.
Topponcino
- Machine or hand wash between 30°C and 40°C.
- Use a gentle spin.
- Gentle tumble drying is allowed.
- Avoid ironing to prevent altering the quilting.
- Add white vinegar or an anti-fading wipe to the machine or hand wash water to prevent fabric bleeding and fix the colors.
- If you use a lot of detergent or washing powder, and depending on the hardness of your water, this can leave white marks on dark colors.
